Tessera is a modular marble floor tile system composed of three distinct hexagonal units that align seamlessly and remain compatible even when rotated or placed at different angles. Designed as an open system rather than a fixed composition, Tessera allows users to generate a wide variety of layouts through a limited set of elements.
Inspired by ancient cities and their layered visual order, the design is rooted in ideas of continuity, harmony and variation. The flowing geometry formed by the three modules creates a surface language that feels both structured and organic, balancing repetition with visual movement.
Through the contrast between light and dark stone, Tessera transforms the floor into an active spatial element rather than a neutral background. Each composition becomes slightly different depending on placement, reflecting the individuality of stone and the quiet complexity of historic surfaces.
